A Little History
This Department was chartered in 1908 with eight auxiliaries:
Bennington, No.1
Nashua, No.2
Troy, No.3
Hopkinton, No.8
Plymouth, No.9
Exeter, No.10
Keene, No.11
Hinsdale, No.12

Through the years there have been a total of 21 different auxiliary units here, with only three remaining.

You do not have to be a New Hampshire resident to join a New Hampshire Auxiliary. Keene, for example, has members as far away as Oregon. You may print this ON-LINE APPLICATION and send to the auxiliary of your choice with your check for dues and initiation fees made payable to that specific auxiliary.

Living histories in period costume, 9th Grade Girls Book Award Program, Remembrance Day (Nov. 19--annual commemoration of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address), Holiday Bake Sale the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Memorial Sunday Church Service attendance (in costume, if desired), G.A.R. Lot traditional Memorial Day Service with Flower Tribute, and more!

Special News/Announcements: Oct.20--an annual event is under consideration to commemorate the original 1871 dedication of the Civil War Soldiers' Monument in the Keene Common. Details to be released.

This auxiliary was chartered April 30, 1908. It is the oldest of the three current auxiliaries and is the lone survivor of the original eight auxiliaries of this Department. Blanche Beverstock was this auxiliary's National President in 1921. She was the first New Hampshire member to rise to the National President's chair.

This auxiliary broke away from the Hillsboro unit back in the 1970s. It has had two National Presidents--Emma Wheeler served the 1964/1965 term and her daughter, Jackie Johnston served the 1997/1998 term.


In Memory of Our Departed Sisters
This section honors the service and memory of those Department of New Hampshire Sisters who passed away in the last year. Beginning in 2003, a U.S.flag flown over the U.S. Capitol is presented to the family of each Departed Sister. A certificate accompanies the flag.
